Driver Testing Services
PR Audio offers a wide variety of Technical Services, in addition to our repair services. Primary among these are our Speaker Testing Sevices. These include frequency response measurements of drivers or complete speaker systems, and we also offer high accuracy measuments of the following Thiele-Small paramaters:

Ambient temperature and humidity at the time of the measurements are noted. Parameters are tested after a 12 hour break in @ Xp-mech, and a subsequent 12 hour stabilization / recovery (”rest”) period. (The break-in is done unless otherwise requested or inappropriate, such as when a driver is already broken in or has seen substantial usage, or might not survive such a break-in.)
We can also provide impedance surves, distortion+noise curves at various power levels, do power and durability testing, etc. We also have the capability to do “direct BL” measurements of high accuracy on woofers and most other cone-type drivers. This is an extremely good way to cross-check Thiele-Small data, without destroying the driver.
The above is not intended as a complete list of our capabilities: Call it “the tip of the iceberg”. But, on the other hand, if your speaker just isn’t sounding as good as it used to, we can trouble-shoot that, too. (Many times, simpler tests or a quick frequency sweep will be quite sufficient!)
Note that we have acquired a Smith & Larson WT-Pro testing package and will be adding vastly more testing capacity as we move along the “learning curve” for that (very cool!) unit.

More Technical Services
In addition to Speaker Testing Services, PR Audio can provide driver, crossover, and complete speaker system design services. For example, if you have a cabinet design that needs a “better woofer”, we can analyze the existing driver and cabinet, and advise you as to what is possible (or practical), or not. We can direct you to a source for an appropriate driver (if we don’t have it available), or, if your needs are larger scale, we can hook you up with a driver manufacturer. (OK, granted that in the latter case, the manufaturer will usually be Credence Speakers!) On the other end of the scale, if you are a club or other establishment looking for a great “house system”, we’ve built some really good ones! Or if you are having trouble with your audio system, large or small, such as repetitive failures, we can solve that sort of problem too!
We also offer, for specialized situations, custom drivers, custom speaker systems*, and driver and/or system upgrades and modifications. Please feel free to contact us with your needs!
