Here is a very hard to find item, if you only need a few:  Nice nylon shoulder washers sized well for use with standard 0.25″ threaded stud RCA jacks.  Industrial suppliers often have something like this in boxes of 100, at a reasonable price per washer, but most of us don’t use them 100 at a time!  They also usually come in a small box, which drives up the shipping cost if they are all you are buying.  (See note at bottom of page, regarding inexpensive shipping.)  Very occaisionally, a good hardware store will have them, but IF you can find them by the 4th or 5th hardware store you try, then you also find the price per washer is usually through the roof.  Not to mention the gas you used.

So…  We found some of these surplus recently, and figured rather than buying a few just for ourselves, we’d buy all the seller had, to put some on our web site, too.  (This also helped a little on the price.)

Even with a good camera, it is hard to get a picture that really shows the “shoulder” area clearly, so, we made up the simple drawing below.  This drawing is NOT scaled:  It just shows the general type of item.  The numerical dimensions are accurate, however.  (Click on the image to enlarge.)

Price:  $0.10 each, any qty.  Quantities are limited to 20 pieces per customer, per order.

Note:  We also have the same part, but without the “shoulder”, for use on the “other side” of the panel the jack is mounting into.  Same price, same limit (ie., 20 + 20 pieces per customer, per order.)

We also have a smaller outside diameter washer, which is sometimes useful for an outer panel surface that has printing on it.  (The smaller washer O.D. leaves a little more room for the printing.)  This one is a black fiber washer, as pictured here.  Again the price is the same.  If you wish you may mix flat washers for a total of 20 flat washers, per customer, per order.

Also note, these washers can be placed in a small padded envelope for shipping via 1st class mail, so, if you want to order only some washers, the postage will be quite reasonable.
