We are very pleased to introduce our PR12G30BPR1 12″ woofer. This is a versatile driver, offering remarkable quality for the quite low cost. The basic unit is manufactured in Taiwan, and then we add multiple modifications to further improve performance.
Features:
Rubber Roll
Rigid, non-pressed, treated paper cone body with excellent damping.
2″ high temperature voice coil with Aluminum voice coil former.
High quality lead wires with strain relief treatment by PR Audio.
Dual dust caps, configured for smoothest response (see curves) while maintaining an excellent air seal from the front to the back of the diaphragm..
One piece vented pole and back plate (T-yoke) for efficient magnetics and good heat dissipation.
Bumped back plate (relief) for added excursion.
Black finish basket, top plate and back plate (T-yoke) to help radiate heat away.
Solder / push-on tab terminals.
Frequency response from 25 Hz (cabinet dependent) to 2.3 kHz.
80 watts RMS / 120 watts max.*
8Ω impedance.
Excellent for low and medium cost 2-way or 3-way system (see curves).
Individually tested for proper operation @ PR Audio.
Overall diameter = 12.07″ (306.5mm)

Notes
*Power handling will be somewhat dependent on the enclosure you use. A small sealed box will tend to limit overexcursion on the low end, but is also subject to the greatest heat buildup. Vented boxes require use of a sharp high pass filter to minimize inputs below the box tuning frequency, for high power usage. (We will post
some box solutions with recommended filters, soon.)
In most situations, the 15° off axis curve will be the closest to what the driver “actually sounds like”. However, this will depend on your exact position relative to the driver, not to mention the effect(s) of each (unique) listening room.
This unit has many applications, from critical listening, to use as a replacement speaker, to low cost / high output dual and quad woofer systems using good quality mid/high horn drivers for stunning results: You can rock the house down with clean sound and extended response at a reasonable cost! We will be working on some kit designs in the near future…
Typical Response Curves
(Click on image to enlarge.)
Magenta = 1.414 volts, 1/2 meter, 0°, 0.3octave smoothing.
Yellow = 1.414 volts, 1/2 meter, 15°, 0.3octave smoothing.
Blue = 1.414 volts, 1/2 meter, 30°, 0.3octave smoothing.
The driver was not recessed into the baffle (that would likely smooth the response further, by reducing diffraction effects at the outer edge of the unit.) Also note 1.414 volts, 1/2 meter ≈ 2.828 volts, 1 meter, and 2.828 volts is a normal 1 watt into a nominal 8Ω load.

We can also provide pairs or sets with a slight deliberate mismatch of the level (but very similar curves otherwise.) This may be useful in certain applications. (This will only be 2 dB or so, as these units have been testing fairly consistently.) Contact Us for details.
Price:
$43.00 each, 2/$82, 10/$400. (Larger qty’s are available if you can give us a little lead time.) Units with individual curves for each are $4 extra, per curve, up to 12 pieces or curves; please contact us if your quantity to be curved is over 10 pieces or curves at multiple angles are needed. See also our page on Technical Services, or contact us for details.) Matched pairs (± 1.5 dB 35- 1kHz) with curves $92/pr.
Our prices include packaging (double boxing) and shipping will be at actual cost, plus a small handling fee if your total order is under $100 (see ordering details here.)
