Wow, what a great find!!!  We have a limited stock of polystyrene capacitors, as pictured above.  Polystyrene capacitors are no longer generally available, despite being perhap some of the finest capacitors available, when it comes to audio quality.  The values available are 0.001uF +/- 3%*, 0.015uF +/- 5%  @ 125v, 0.033uF +/- 10%  @ 125v, and 0.039uF +/- 10%  @ 125v.  These are useful in preamp level audio circuits, for the value of the cap, or for bypass usage.  Additionally, the larger values can also be used as bypass capacitors in passive crossover networks.  They are especially effective in tweeter crossovers where high quality tweeters are used:  Combine almost any decent quality polypropylene capacitor with one or two polystyrene bypass capacitors, and mount all so as to minimize vibration pickup / microphonic effects*, and you will have sound quality that rivals high priced exotic capacitors that cost 10x or more.

*Note:  The voltage of the 0.001 uF Polystyrene capacitors is not printed on the side.  They are surely good for at least 50 volts, but we will test some to establish their voltage rating.  The tolerance is 3% (designated by the “H” after the value) — See this page for more on capacitor codes:  http://www.solarbotics.net/library/pieces/parts_elect_pass_cap_code.html

We would like as many people as possible to have a chance to try these out, so, pricing is “reverse progressive” in higher qty’s.

0.039uF +/- 10%  @ 125v Polystyrene Capacitor:  $2.50 ea. / $2.00 ea., 5-10 pcs. / $2.50 ea., 11-20 pcs. / $3.00 ea., 21+ pieces per order.

Notes:

1)  Availability permitting, we will sort to your exact value requirement, +/- 1%, and will mark the measured value on each unit, for $1.00 per unit.  [The 0.001 uF units are to small to mark - we will bag, envelope, or tape them and mark the bag(s) (etc.) as appropriate.]

2) The printing on a few units (particularly the 0.039uF capacitors) is hard to read / has been partially rubbed off, etc.  If this is the case, we will check the value and write it on the capacitor.  However, we will not “select values” unless requested per note “1″ above.  (In the case of the 0.001uF caps, if any are hard to read, we will bag / envelope / tape - and mark as noted above.)
