Infinity 902-5345 Polycell tweeter “High Output”?

To add to the confusion over Infinity High Output Polycell tweeters, apparently Infinity has seen fit to call one of the small magnet Polycell tweeters “High Output”.  That designation was originally reserved for the large magnet versions, such as the 902-2638.  We found images of the 902-5345 on eBay, the second being crucial:

The 902-5345 is not equivalent to the 902-2638 or other large magnet version such as the 902-6688.  Generally speaking, the large magnet versions should not be used in place of the small magnet versions, unless they can be properly attenuated.  And, the small magnet versions (regardless of what the faceplate says) should not be used in place of the large magnet versions, unless that large magnet version is being used with serious attenuation (such as in the crossover) and you are able to defeat that attenuation properly.

Note:  We are not “criticising” the eBay seller.  Few have the technical background to “catch” these types of details.  This seller seems to be simply presenting the item for what it appears to be.  Now, as for who chose to print “High Output” on the faceplate, given the past models, that is a little different story.

For comparison, note how much closer the magnet of the 902-2638 is to the terminals, than is the magnet of the 902-5345:

 (Yes, it makes a difference!)

One last thought:  We are assuming no one has swapped faceplates around!  If anyone has information indicating that might be the case, please let us know.  Or, if anyone else has a 902-5345 they can send us photos of, please do.  If someone has a non-working 902-5345, we’d be quite interested in having you send it in.  (If you want it repaired, we’ll re-diaphragm it and curve it at no labor cost to you — 1st unit sent in, only — thanks!)
