This is the HiVi M8N Magnesium-Aluminum cone woofer, or, as HiVi calls it, an 8 inch “Bass-Midrange” driver.  This unit has many nice features at a modest price, including the concave Magnesium-Aluminum alloy cone body, treated to reduce resonances, a rubber surround, and HiVi’s “Symmetric Motor Drive” (SMD) for low distortion.  More information is on HiVi’s spec sheet, and additional information is on their web site, here.  Note that the 88 dB/2.83v/1M sensitivity specification on HiVi’s web site appears to be newer information, and appears to match up better with the actual curve, than the 86 dB figure given on the spec sheet.
