Here is an excellent derivation of the old Audax TW48A type tweeter, manufactured by Onkyo (Foster in the US), for Delco.  This is a 6 ohm tweeter, usable in both auto and home applications, or anywhere you need a compact high frequency unit with an unusually good response curve, for the size and price.  Plus, WE give you something we have seen from no other seller of these:  The actual response curve!  We will even match pairs and / or supply individual curves, if you wish (though that might not usually be cost effective, given the unit’s low price.)  We also spot check responses on these (several per carton) just to insure consistency, something else few (if any) sellers are doing.  This is a surprisingly good little tweeter — it almost makes you wonder what most automakers are doing wrong in their car audio systems (which rarely sound as good on the highs, as what these units are inherently capable of.)

Note that while the 15 deg. off axis response is very good, dispersion in the >12k range @ 30 deg. is not quite as good as a typical Audax “W” style tweeter.  However, the Onkyo’s dispersion in the 9-12k range is actually better than the Audax.  We think this is a good tradeoff — the dispersion effects are more audible to most people in the 9-12k range than the >12k range.  The Onkyo is also smoother in the 5kHz to 13kHz range than its Audax counterpart:  Again, the better performance is right where it is most noticeable.  Response will be even smoother in fact, if you make sure the transition from the edge of the tweeter to the baffle is as smooth as possible.  (We did not Bondo or stripcaulk the unit into our baffle, as that would make it a little hard to sell!)  Also note that this is not a selected unit:  It was the 1st one we pulled out of a carton, totally at random.
